ABOUT

MECHANICAL BULLS

NOTE: MECHANICAL BULLS, RAMS, SHARKS, SOCCER BALL, ETC. ALL USE THE SAME CONTROLLER, MOTOR BASE AND AIR BAG. ONLY THE FIBERGLASS BODY IS DIFFERENT. WHEN YOU SEE "BULL" OR "MECHANICAL BULL" BELOW IT CAN MEAN ANY OF THESE RIDES.

Q:

ARE MECHANICAL BULLS SAFE?

A:

Generally, yes. In 15 years we have only had a broken finger from falling off wrong (while intoxicated) and a cut from hanging onto the bull body after falling. No drinking allowed if you want to ride now and we always tell riders not to resist falling off, just go with it! The foot thick full air bag that surrounds modern bulls is nothing like the old days when people would fall onto straw on the ground. Air bags are designed to ease one's fall. But there is no guarantee in life so we do require all riders to have their own medical insurance and to sign a RELEASE FORM (click HERE). If a rider is under 18 year old, their parents must sign the release. We do not want anyone under 65-lbs or over 225-lbs to ride.

Q:

WHAT POWER DOES THE MECHANICAL BULL NEED?

A:

Two SEPARATE 120VAC 20AMP unloaded circuits (nothing else plugged into them) each with a different fusebox breaker. Must be SEPARATE circuits not two plugs on the same breaker. Our plugs-ins are standard, common 3-prong "Edison" plugs. You must use 12-AWG or 10-AWG extension cords to run power the bull (these can be rented separately) and your extension cords cannot be over 100-ft long.

Q:

CAN I USE MY OWN GENERATOR TO POWER THE BULL?

A:

Generally, no. Most people do not have the proper power take-offs to use their generators with our equipment. Because of the high start-up (surge) current you need a generator with at least 7000 watt run, 8500 watt surge capacity AND the ability to split its L14-30 240VAC plug into two separate 120VAC outlets. Our bull operators are not electricians and cannot help you with this. If the bull does not work - sorry there are no refunds. Best to use an Amerevent generator. One generator will have enough power for the starting surge of the bull motors, the air bag and maybe some LED lighting. Figure about $200 including fuel and delivery.

Q:

WHAT SHOULD WE PUT ON THE GROUND TO PROTECT THE FLOOR? WHAT IS THE DIMENSION OF THE MOTOR BASE BOTTOM?

A:

The motor base will include a 3'x3' pad or piece of carpet that it can be put under the motor base so not to scratch floor. The soft side should always go down against the floor. For grass, the RENTER should provide a 4x4 sheet of plywood.  The unit weighs about 400-lbs and can move around a bit, so the RENTER (not the operator) should keep an eye on it and have it pushed back into place if needed.

Q:

WHAT SPACE IS NEEDED FOR THE MECHANICAL BULL?

A:

You will need at least 20-ft in diameter for the bull and air bag, but must also allow 5-ft around any side people may walk by. This can be avoided if the area is enclosed or fenced.
